How To Place A Prescription Order With National Animal Hospital

  1.  Place the product(s) you wish to purchase in your Shopping Cart.
  2.  During the checkout process you will be prompted for all of the information we require to process your order.  Failure to provide all of the requested information may result in a delay in shipping.
  3.  Enter your billing information.  We will authorize your credit card, and a hold will be placed on the authorized funds. We will only complete the charge on your card once your order has been processed and is ready to be shipped from our warehouse.
  4. That's it.  We'll take care of the rest.  We will contact your Veterinarian by phone or fax to obtain the prescription authorization for you.

You will receive an email when any of the following events occur:

  • Your order has been accepted by our system.
  • We have contacted your Veterinarian.
  • Your Prescription has been authorized by your Veterinarian.
  • Your Veterinarian declined to authorize your prescription.
  • Your order has left our warehouse.

National Animal Hospital Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Is National Animal Hospital a Licensed Pharmacy?
    Yes, we are fully licensed to dispense prescription medication to the following states:
    AK, AZ, CO, CT, DE, FL, HI, IA, IL, KS, MA, MD, MI, MN, MO, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SD, VT, WA, WI and WY.
  2. Are veterinarians required under state law or regulation to write prescriptions upon client request, assuming that a patient/client relationship exists and that the vet is already willing to dispense the medication in question from the clinic's own stock?
    The following states REQUIRE a prescription to be written upon request:

    Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii,
    Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Wyoming

    Although other States may not require a prescription be written, failure to do so is considered a breach of ethics by the American Veterinary Medical Association.

  3. Does National Animal Hospital have a product guarantee?
    Yes, we guarantee you'll get the same the exact medication prescribed by your Veterinarian.  All of the medications we sell are fully approved for sale and use in the United States, and are FDA/EPA/USDA approved.
  4. What information is needed to purchase a prescription medication?
    In addition to your pet's information we'll need your Veterinarian's name and phone number.
  5. Do I need a prescription to purchase medications?
    If you are purchasing prescription medication, all we need is your Veterinarian's name and phone number.  We will contact them for authorization, there is no need for you to do anything else!
  6. Does National Animal Hospital dispense prescription medications without a Veterinarian's authorization?
    No. All prescription medications must have an authorization before they are dispensed.
  7. What if I have a written prescription?

  8. Does National Animal Hospital sell medication not approved for sale in the USA?
    No, we sell only USDA/FDA/EPA approved medications. It is the same exact medication sold by your Veterinarian
  9. Do you have free shipping?
    Yes, all orders over $89 are shipped, free of charge.  For orders under $89, there is a $4.95 shipping fee.
  10. How are your orders shipped?
    USPS First Class Mail - Up to 7 business days
    USPS Priority Mail - 3 to 5 business days
    USPS Express Mail - 1 to 2 business days


    Most orders placed Friday, and all orders placed Saturday and Sunday ship the next business day (Monday). Prescription medication may take longer due to the authorization process.

  11. How do I cancel my order?
    You can cancel your order anytime prior to your order leaving our warehouse by simply sending an email to:  Please reference your order number in your email. 
  12. What is your return policy?
    National Animal Hospital offers a 30 day satisfaction guarantee on all nonprescription medication.  Federal law prohibits us from accepting returns on prescription medication
  13. How do I talk with a pharmacist?

  14. What if I have an emergency?

  15. How long will it take to hear back when I leave a voicemail or send an email?
    National Animal Hospital guarantees you will hear back from us in 24 hours, but our response time is usually much quicker.
  16. How do I report an Adverse Drug Reaction (an adverse drug reaction is defined as "an appreciably harmful or unpleasant reaction, resulting from an intervention related to the use of a medicinal product, which predicts hazard from future administration and warrants prevention or specific treatment, or alteration of the dosage regimen, or withdrawal of the product)?
